The International Handball Federation (IHF) is by definition a non-profit legal entity recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the sole representative of international handball. The IHF shall lead, develop and promote handball around the world.
The IHF was officially founded on July 11th, 1946. As of 2007, 159 member federations are currently affiliated to the IHF. Its Headquarters are in Basel, Switzerland.
Today, Handball is played in 167 countries, there are 19 million players worldwide acting with 795,000 teams.
MONDO sponsored the International Handball Federation from 2004 to 2008 and provided all the handball floors, goal posts and nets for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
In 1999, MONDO got the first “Seal of Approval” on the synthetic sport floorings type Mondoflex, Mondosport I and Advance which is still current today, together with the ones for all permanent and portable wooden floorings, goal posts and nets.
