The research behind the Mini Multipurpose Sports Facilities project is the result of extensive national studies concerning young people's attitudes towards sport, and their requirements. The studies have revealed a need for multipurpose facilities which can be used both for the training and teaching of athletics and other key sports, and for amateur competition.
Following this study, Mondo has developed the Mini Multipurpose Sports Facilities project, which can be applied to various sporting disciplines such as athletics, basketball, volleyball and 5-a-side football.
The playing surfaces were developed with the aid of the top federations of the sports involved, after discussions on optimisation of space, limiting costs, and all aspects of player safety.
The projects presented here are just examples, but the basic concepts of this study can be adapted to suit a customer's specific needs, obviously taking practical aspects (the type of sport, available space etc.) and financial aspects into account.
The ultimate aim is to create a healthy environment in which basic sports can be practiced so that young people can grow, develop, and learn to appreciate sport.
The project is targeted at various institutions which recognise the important social function of sport, and its capacity to create not only the talented athletes of the future but also individuals with sound principles.
Small and medium-sized towns, parishes, schools and other institutions which have no need of large-scale sports facilities for top-level activity will find that the proposals of this study match their social requirements.
