Rubber Flooring: 6 new sports facilities rely on Mondoflex surfaces

MONDO is restoring a series of multi-purpose facilities in the province of Álava, in Cantabria, the Balearics, in Madrid and Palencia. In total, more than 5,700 square meters of ultra-resistant rubber flooring will be installed.

Rubber is a material that allows intensive use of the flooring of multi-purpose facilities and centres, also facilitating cleaning and maintenance operations. The new generation of MONDO ultra-resistant rubber surfaces, Mondoflex and Mondoflex II, include flooring made of natural and synthetic rubber  characterized by a smooth, non-porous, non-slip and bacteriostatic surface. Both models are intended for sports pitches on which basketball, handball, volleyball, badminton or five-a-side are played and various types of events are held. In this period, six Spanish facilities are installing MONDO Mondoflex flooring.

The Mondoflex rubber surfaces offer constant efficiency, excellent resistance to intensive use and maximum safety for athletes, thanks to the reduced emissions of volatile organic compounds. Mondoflex II also has a polyurethane under-layer that increases the level of comfort and impact absorption up to 25%, as well as ensuring a uniform biomechanical behavior across the surface. The aesthetic aspect is impeccable: in addition to the possibility of combining a large number of colors together, it does not have any joints, since no welding seams are required.

Safety and quality

The Mondoflex range of sports flooring exceeds the requirements established by industry regulations in terms of safety, quality and sustainability and holds the FIBA and International Handball Federation approvals, in addition to recognitions such as the Greenguard and Greenguard Gold certifications. The surfaces comply with the conditions of the REACH regulation and the CE marking and are certified according to the UNI EN14904 standard, an increasingly required requirement in the market in order to increase the quality and safety of sports facilities. Their reaction to fire was assessed according to the Euroclass classification set by the UNI EN 13501 standard and has been classified as a non-hazardous residue in the European Waste Catalogue.

Everlay, the ideal reinforcement

The Mondoflex sports flooring range can be combined with Everlay, an insulating and stabilizing fibreglass sheet that acts as a continuous base on which to install the sports surface. Everlay is available in three models: A, Protection and High Protection. Everlay A can be combined with Mondoflex and Mondoflex II and ensures insulation from moisture by capillary action with a minimum thickness. Combined on-site with Mondoflex, the Protection and High Protection versions offer an impact absorption equal to or greater than 25% and 35% respectively.

Here is another advantage: the Everlay sheets speed up the installation of the flooring system, since there is no need wait for the screed to dry. Being a floating type installation, the system does not remain glued to the floor foundation, which greatly extends the useful life of the product. Everlay also represents a perfect solution for radiant panel heating systems, as it does not act as a thermal barrier.

Six new sports facilities use Mondoflex flooring

In this period, MONDO is installing its new Mondoflex flooring range in six sports facilities distributed throughout Spain: these are the municipal facilities of Alcúdia (Majorca), Santa Cruz de Bezana (Cantabria) and Guardo (Palencia), plus the new centre of the IES Zabalgana School in Vitoria-Gasteiz and two structures belonging to the Antonio de Nebrija University (Madrid).
