Malaga is enjoying a summer full of sport, and last weekend it hosted a high-level event: the 106th Spanish National Athletics Championships, held from July 24th to 26th. The venue was the Ciudad de Málaga Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the Sportflex Super X 720 surface.
For this championship, the stadium also used the company's high-end World Athletics equipment, customized for the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA).
Mondo, which also provided technical support during the championships, has been collaborating with the federation for over thirty years, making it its longest-standing partner.
This was the fourth time Malaga hosted the Spanish National Athletics Championships, following those in 1996, 2005, and 2011. Among the outstanding performances: María Pérez from Granada excelled in the 10,000-meter walk (42:12.93), breaking the Spanish record held by Raquel González since 2016. Other notable performances included Adrián Ben and Marina Martínez in the 1,500 meters; Blanca Hervás, who won the 400-meter final by one-hundredth of a second; Marta García from León, who secured her fifth consecutive title in the 5,000 meters; María Isabel Pérez in the 100 meters; Yulenmis Aguilar in the javelin throw; María Vicente in the heptathlon; Paul McGrath in the 10,000-meter walk; Martín Cissé in the high jump; and Andrea Sales, a hammer throw champion at just 19 years old; or Fabrizio Scontrini in the shot put, among many others.
With a capacity of over 7,500 spectators, the athletics track at the Ciudad de Málaga Stadium is equipped with a Sportflex Super X 720 surface.

The Spanish National Athletics Championships, held last weekend in Malaga, once again featured high-end equipment supplied by Mondo, as was the case in previous editions in Tarragona (2025), La Nucía (2024), and Torrent (2023).
For this year's edition, Mondo provided a wide range of World Athletics equipment, customized with the new corporate image of the RFEA (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation). The equipment delivered to the stadium—which also houses a year-round throwing cage—included hurdles, lane markings, complete high jump and pole vault equipment, transport and support trolleys, distance markers for the throwing events, athlete benches, and, among other things, anemometers.
LED technology is a key feature of Mondo's track and field equipment range, with LEDs integrated into some of its equipment. Throughout the competition, Mondo also provided technical support to ensure the smooth running of the events.
In addition to the Spanish record, María Pérez also received other awards on Saturday.
Mondo awarded the Granada-born race walker the Fair Play Award for her performance at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. After winning the gold medal, Pérez remained at the finish line to wait for her rival and friend, Antonella Palmisano. The gesture went viral, and Mondo wanted to personally celebrate it with this award. Among her impressive list of achievements, Pérez was crowned Olympic champion at Paris 2024, a four-time world champion, and European champion in 2018. Last year, she received the gold medal of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit and was named "Female Athlete of the Year 2025" by World Athletics in the outdoor category and "Best Spanish Athlete of 2025" by the RFEA, among other honors.
