100 DAYS TO GO


This coming Friday marks 100 days to go to The Match: Europe v USA, which will be staged in the Belarus capital Minsk on 9-10 September. The Match will be staged in the recently refurbished Dinamo National Olympic Stadium on Mondotrack WS; the surface was installed in spring 2018 and the product has been chosen as  the competition track at the last two Olympic Games. As part of the countdown to what is expected to be one of the major athletics competitions of the year, and the last serious outing for many likely medal contenders ahead of the IAAF World Championships Doha 2019, let's focus on this exciting Ryder-style match that will take place across two days with the following programme of men’s and women’s events:
Track
100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 110m hurdles (M), 100m hurdles (W), 400m hurdles, 3000m steeplechase, 4x100m relay, Medley Relay (mixed 200m-200m-400m-800m, with 1 woman and 1 man running 200 m in the order defined by each team, and then a woman 400m and a man at 800m).
Jumps
High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump.
Throws
Shot Put, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw.
The Dinamo National Olympic Stadium in Minsk has already seen several top-class domestic and international meetings since it was inaugurated on 21 June last year and will also host the DNA competition at next month’s European Games (21-30 June).
