THE NATIONAL SPORT CENTRE IN Prostějov, CZECH REPUBLIC, STARTED OUT AS A SPACE DEDICATED TO YOUNG ATHLETES IN THE AREA. THE CENTRE'S TWO TRAINING COURTS AND THE COURT FOR COMPETITIONS ARE MAINLY USED FOR VOLLEYBALL AND BASKETBALL, BUT TENNIS, FOOTBALL AND HOCKEY ARE PRACTISED AS WELL. THE ARCHITECTS WHO PLANNED THIS SPACE, USING AN INNOVATIVE DESIGN THAT BLENDS NATURALLY WITH ITS SURROUNDINGS, OPTED FOR (FIBA APPROVED) MONDOELASTIC FLOORING. AND THE RESULT WAS VERY SATISFYING.
Prostějov is an industrial city in the region of Moravia, Czech Republic, a country where the level of attention to sport - especially the training of promising young athletes capable of competing on the international level - is very high. For this reason, the city equipped itself with an enviable sports centre last year, born out of the ruins of a swimming pool that had been abandoned for years. The purpose of the centre is to provide a training area for the most skilled young athletes and for the schools in the area, which use it every day. The sports played here include basketball, volleyball, tennis, football and hockey, and the certifications obtained, including for the flooring, make it ideal for competitions outside the championship as well.
“We are in direct contact with the athletes, who are experiencing Mondoelastic, and they are all very satisfied.”
The architecture firm that designed the National Sport Center in Prostějov selected Mondoelastic flooring for the basketball court. The flooring is FIBA LEVEL 1 approved and equipped with the Air Cells Pads system, whose patented supports guarantee the elevated elastic response of the surface. Mondoelastic accompanies the athletes through the continuous changes of speed and direction and the impact with the floor, both when training and competing, providing support for their physical efforts and preventing injuries.
In addition, given that the space is dedicated to young people, the architects felt it was important to create an environment that focused on playing and having fun, and colours were a central focus. Both the colour and the design of Mondoelastic can be customised! The flooring that was supplied for the centre in Prostějov was therefore custom made according to all the specifications, including the colours, provided by the architecture firm.
“Cooperation with our partners was extraordinary throughout the whole operation!” continue the architects who oversaw the project, echoed by our dealer Italmec: “We used a high grip adhesive for the laying phase, and coloured it according to the instructions received on the basis of the RAL. At the end, we coloured the entire surface with a two-component water-based paint, specifically meant for sports flooring. The architect was very happy with it!”
These days, more than 300 people can sit in the stands and observe the progress of the young athletes from Prostějov, who - we are certain - will go a long way, thanks in part to Mondoelastic!
