The galvanized steel protection cage for discus and hammer throws has been designed and manufactured according to the Regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (WA Certificate: E-13-0730).
The cage is made up of 10 vertical galvanized steel posts with a square cross section (100 x 100 mm). The upper part of the posts has an 'L' shape to fix the rail from which the safety net hangs. The lower part of the post is inserted into the PVC anchoring sleeve previously incarcerated into the concrete footing and also has two angle-profiles that level the position of the post and fix it to the foundation using metallic expansive elements.
The posts have two different heights (7.60 and 11.30 m), so that the protection net reaches the useful heights of 7.0 and 10.0 m, respectively. The posts are joined at the top by a structure that incorporates a guide rail system that allows the safety net to be extended and retracted quickly and easily.
The cage features two separate net-wall sections guided by overlapping rails at the rear, creating a corridor for the athlete to access the throwing ring from the side opposite the cage door. These net-wall sections are formed by a 5mm thick High Tenacity Polypropylene mesh and 45mm grid, without knots and with a breaking strength of 2500 N.
The rail system allows, during competition or training, to easily configure the door depending on whether the thrower is right-handed or left-handed, fixing the lower end of the safety net with the locking pin in the exact position. The rail also simplifies the process of preparing the cage for use and it is possible for a single person in a few seconds to be able to fully extend the two net-wall sections. Similarly, a single person can quickly retract the entire net when the cage is not going to be used.
All steel parts are galvanized before delivery.
The steel parts are coated with polyester powder paint, which is applied after degreasing treatment, which takes place in pressurized phosphating bath, and polymerized in an oven at 200 ºC.
All hardware included are made of stainless-steel.
