For over 8 years, Mondo S.p.A. and the Polymer Engineering Laboratory of the Polytechnic of Milan (PolyEngLab) collaborate on research activities on the characterization and modeling of sports surfaces, with particular attention to the exploration of FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation techniques applied to the development of athletics tracks.
This project led to the selection of a new subfloor design with elliptical geometric shapes of the track chosen as the surface for the Stade de France and to the definition of a new track model: Mondotrack™ with Ellipse Impulse Technology.
The new design of the subfloor, characterized by elliptical geometric shapes, allows the track to respond fluidly and dynamically to every step, leap or throw, significantly improving the absorption and return of the energy impressed by the athlete on the athletics track.
