The athletics competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were a spectacle, with athletes performing beautifully on the brand new Mondotrack™ athletics track. The track was supplied by MONDO and installed in the Stade Olympique, also known as the Stade de France, the largest sports stadium in the host country.
The total surface area of the athletics track supplied and installed by MONDO in the Olympic Stadium in Paris and the adjacent training track is 23,114m2 (15,570 m2 in the Olympic Stadium and 7544 m2 for the adjacent training track) which translates to 1168 rolls of prefabbricated athletics track, each with an average weight of 250kg: that’s almost 300 tomes of athletics track!
Six installers and technicians worked for almost three months between March and June 2024 to install the track in the Olympic Stadium while another two were added to the team to help install the training annex track between February and April 2024.
The materials needed for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 were produced in barely two months at the Mondo factory in Alba, Italy.
Purple, to reflect the Paris 2024 brand, was chosen by the Organising Committee to replace the former blue track at the Stade de France, which had been in place for many years.
Grey has been featured on the turns, with the colour chosen deliberately to resemble the cinder track that featured a century ago in 1924 when Paris last staged the Olympic Games.
MONDO has been an official supplier and partner of World Athletics since 1987: it has also provided all sports equipment necessary for every athletics discipline at Paris 2024 including hurdles, landing beds, high jump and pole vault poles and bars, departure cones, and lane markers.
A lasting legacy for the products MONDO supplies for Paris 2024 is essential. This is why MONDO is committed to ensuring a second life of all the products and equipment it will provide.
In collaboration with Paris 2024, some of the sports equipment have been redistributed to other users after the Olympic Games. Other pieces will be checked, reconditioned, and then reused by MONDO as well as offered to organisers of future sporting events.
Can an athletic track meet all the needs of an athlete? Yes, if it grows with them and translates what they need into concrete features applied within the track. This why evolution it is a word that has become the very definition of the MONDOTRACK™ with Ellipse Impulse Technology athletics track, which has been updated prior to becoming the official track of the Olympics Games Paris 2024. Discover MONDOTRACK™ with Ellipse Impulse Technology in this page.
MONDO athletics tracks have already left a mark in the annals of athletics history at past Olympic Games. This swathe of records fuels further expectations at Paris 2024 for a track that was born with athletes and elite performances in mind.
