Mondo athletics tracks once again helped athletes deliver record performances during the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings series this winter.
The stadia at six of the nine 2025 Gold meetings sported Mondo athletics tracks.
Once again – like every other year since the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories were introduced in 2021 – Mondo athletics tracks were under the feet of athletes at the more of the top-level one-day indoor athletics meetings than any other track provider.
And in 2025 there was another deluge of records on Mondo athletics tracks.
All four of the world short track (indoor) records set at World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings were achieved on Mondo athletics tracks.
Likewise, Mondo helped produce all four of the world U20 short track records at these meetings, with eight of the 10 continental short track records also coming Mondo athletics tracks during the packed five-week schedule of the Gold meetings.
Highlights of Mondo’s record-breaking indoor season included the Norwegian superstar Jakob Ingebrigtsen breaking two world short track records in one race in Lievin, France on 13 February.
Taking aim at the mile record set by USA’s Yared Nuguse just five days earlier at the famous Millrose Games in New York –which was also staged on a Mondo track – Ingebrigtsen passed through 1500m in 3:29.63, taking almost a second off the world short track record of 3:30.60 he set on the same track in 2022.
Ingebrigtsen then continued his relentless pace through the final half lap and flew through the finish line in 3:45.14, more than a second quicker than the 3:46.63 clocked by Nuguse in the Big Apple less than a week before.
The 2025 Millrose Games – which saw six continental records, 11 world-leading marks and 20 national records – also witnessed a 3000m world short track record in one of the most thrilling head-to-head races of the indoor season.
Olympic Games Paris 2024 double bronze medallist Grant Fisher crossed the line after 15 laps of the track in 7:22.91, just edging out Olympic 1500m champion Cole Hocker with a phenomenal change of gears over the last 60 metres.
Hocker finished second in 7:23.14 also beating the previous world record of 7:23.81 set by Ethiopia’s Lamecha Girma in 2023.
The six 2025 World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings staged on Mondo athletics tracks were:
In addition to the world and continental records, 28 out of 38 world-leading marks at the 2025 Gold meetings were set on Mondo athletics tracks as well as 50 out of 72 national records.
In the five seasons since the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings were inaugurated, 27 out of the 36 meetings have taken place on Mondo athletics tracks.
The two major championships of the 2025 indoor season – the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands and the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China – will also be held on Mondo athletics tracks.
