With nearly 3,800 inhabitants, the municipality of Espera (Cádiz) recently inaugurated the new surface for its sports center: the Powerplay sports flooring.
With this renovation, the pavilion boasts a playing surface in optimal condition, as the previous one had reached the end of its life cycle after two decades of use.
The new Mondo sports surface, of which nearly 1,000 square meters were installed, offers excellent athletic performance, versatility, and excellent resistance to the intensive use to which this type of municipal facility is subjected. The improvements to the pavilion were implemented as part of the Provincial Cooperation Plan for Works and Services under Municipal Responsibility.
Before installing the new playing surface, the old surface was removed manually; furthermore, the concrete slab was inspected and the surface was sanded to remove impurities before installing the new sports surface. The color of the playing field has also changed, going from the previous green to a new blue in the playing area and red in the perimeter areas.
Powerplay P1 flooring system installed at Espera is a sports flooring system composed of a top layer of natural and synthetic rubber combined with an Everlay underlay. The combination of both layers forms an 8-millimeter-thick sport flooring system.
Thanks to this choice, users of the Espera pavilion can count on an excellent sports surface, distinguished by its excellent response to intensive use thanks to the durability of the surface rubber.
Safety is another of the Powerplay P1's distinguishing features: this combined system features a shock absorption level of over 25% (P1 according to the UNE-EN 14904 standard). It is also pollutant-free and has obtained Greenguard Gold certification thanks to its very low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
To improve the safety of the pavilion, high-density polyurethane foam panels, reinforced with wood panels, were installed on the walls adjacent to the pavilion and on the pillars.
Once the renovations were completed, several sports fields were marked out for soccer, handball, basketball, and volleyball.
