World Records, World Leads, and More on Mondo

It was a record-setting weekend on the New York City Armory’s new Mondo athletics track, with athletes setting two world records* and more during the World Athletics Indoor Gold meet.

Grant Fisher of the United States set a new world record in the men’s 3000m with a time of 7:22.91, smashing the previous record.

Fellow countryman Yared Nuguse set a new world record in the men’s mile, running 3:46.63 to shatter the former mark.

During the competition, athletes also set:

  • 1 U18 world record
  • 11 world leads
  • 3 indoor world bests
  • 20 national records
  •  several facility records
  •  1 high school record
  •  44 PBs
  • 15 SBs
