Au revoir Paris, hello to another fantastic four years

With the dust finally settling on the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Paris 2024,  Mondo can look back with pride at the athletes' feats achieved on its Mondotrack™ Ellipse Impulse athletics track in the Stade de France.

the records

With memories still vivid from the stunning performances in the French capital, the following superlatives were produced at the Olympic Games:

  • 3 world records
  • 14 Olympic records
  • 21 Area records,
  • 102 National records
  • 334 Personal bests
  • 422 Season bests

the highlights

Highlights of some of the individual events on a track that boasts some of the most revolutionary innovations in the last two decades included the following:

  • In the first men’s 100m in which all participants ran UNDER 10 seconds. In fact, the last of the eight sprinters home clocked 9.91.
  • The men's 800m final saw four men run under 1:42 in the same race for the first time. Spare a thought for Bryce Hoppel, who ran a US national record of 1:41.67 but still missed out on a medal in fourth place.
  • No less than 13 men ran under 27 minutes – and also broke Kenenisa Bekele’s previous Olympic record 10,000m record, which had stood from 2008 at 27:01.17 – with Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei winning in 26:43.14. The previous ‘record’ for men running under 27 minutes over 25 laps of the track was nine.
  • In the first women’s 400m race where all eight competitors RAN FASTER than 50 seconds in a race won by Dominican Republic’s Mariledy Paulino in an Area record of 48.17. The race also produced the fastest-ever times for fourth to eighth place.
  • Four women broke Faith Kipyegon's Olympic 1500m record of 3:53.11 from the Tokyo Olympic Games. In Paris, the phenomenal Kenya improved her record by almost two seconds and took her third Olympic 1500m gold medal in 3:51.29. It was also the first-ever women's 1500m in which the first five women home crossed the line in under 3:54.
  • The Stade de France track was specifically engineered for javelin throwers, and the results were impressive. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem improved the Olympic record by more than two metres with his winning throw of 92.97m. It was an Area record and earned his country’s first athletics gold medal. For the first time in any competition, seven men threw over 86 metres.

mondotrack Ellipse Impulse: the athletics track at the Stade de France

The superlatives – and many other statistics – clearly demonstrate that the Mondotrack™ Ellipse Impulse athletics track – in a striking purple colour replicating the Paris 2024 brand, which was based on France’s famous lavender fields – helped runners to improve across the athletics spectrum, from the sprints to the long-distance races, as reported by various international media.

The key features of the track, which was created over eight years in conjunction with the Polytechnic University of Milan Polymer Engineering Lab, include elliptical air cells engineered in the track's subfloor(or underlayment) for optimum energy return and uniformity.
The Mondotrack™ Ellipse Impulse track continued Mondo's Commitment to Sustainability with a new, lower-carbon production method that uses calcium carbonate from mollusc shells. This creates an eco-sustainable supply chain that transforms waste into a resource.

Paralympic results

The Mondotrack™ with Ellipse Impulse Technology track also proved a great success at the Paralympic Games, with 29 world records and 90 Paralympic records set during the ten days of competition.

Mondo and World Athletics
