Four of the forthcoming World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings will be on Mondo athletics tracks.
The 2026 indoor athletics season is now in full swing with all eyes firmly set on the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, between 20-22 March, where Mondo will once again be the athletics track supplier.
In the next two months, there are also eight World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meetings – the world’s premier indoor one-day events – and Mondo athletics tracks will be under the feet of the athletes at half of those meetings.
At the Millrose Games next Sunday, the organisers have brought some of the world’s best athletes to the Big Apple. As always, much of the excitement and anticipation surrounds the famed and historic Wanamaker Mile.
First run in 1926 – four decades before the advent of the first commercially available synthetic athletics tracks in the mid-1960s – the Wanamaker Mile can boast of an illustrious role of honour that includes many of the world’s greatest milers.
This year, USA’s Yared Nuguse goes for his fourth consecutive title.
Twelve months ago, Nuguse set a world mile short track record of 3:46.63 on the Armory Track & Field Center’s Sportflex Super X 720 athletics track; although the mark only lasted five days before Jakob Ingebrigtsen clocked 3:45.14 on another Mondo athletics track in Liévin, France.
In addition to Nuguse, the 2026 Wanamaker Mile field includes Nuguse’s compatriot Hobbs Kessler, second last year in 3:46.90 and fresh from his 2000m short track world record on Saturday, as well as a plethora of other top middle-distance talent.
Since 2022, when the Millrose Games was elevated to World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold status, four world short track records and 16 continental records have been set at the meeting and there are high hopes there will be another deluge of superlatives this year in New York.
Mondo athletics tracks have been the gold standard for indoor athletics tracks.
In addition, many of the other 73 meetings in the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver, Bronze and Challenger categories will be held on Mondo athletics tracks.
Notably, Mondo will be the athletics track supplier for many of the popular specialist high jump meetings that will be held in Europe during the next five weeks including the UdinJump Development meeting in Udine, Italy on 4 February and the Banskobystrická latka in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia on 24 February.
