MONDO ATHLETICS TRACK AND EQUIPMENT PRODUCES MAGIC MOMENTS IN NANJING

The curtain has come down on the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 25 after three days of spectacular action.

Once again – the 16th occasion in 20 editions since the championships were inaugurated 40 years ago in 1985 – a Mondo athletics track ensured that the world’s best athletes had the very best conditions at their feet.

Sportflex Super X 720 athletics track in Nanjing’s Cube propelled more than 500 athletes from 117 nations to a myriad of achievements.

  • 1 championship record
  • 2 continental records
  • 3 world-leading performances.
  • 27 national records
  • 136 personal bests

Pride of place goes to Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay who produced a thrilling solo performance to win the women’s1500m in a championship record in 3:54.86.

Going straight to the front from the gun, Tsegay went through 400m in a blistering 1:0050 – two seconds quicker than opening 400m in the men’s final! – and then passed 800m in 2:03.44, exactly 2.5 seconds quicker than her split when she set the world short track record of 3:53.07 four years ago in the French town of Lievin.

Tsegay tired slightly over the last two laps but still crossed the line in the fourth fastest indoor time ever.

Other highlights in Nanjing included:

  • US hurdler Grant Holloway dominating the 60m hurdles to win in 7.42, securing a third consecutive world indoor title.
  • Swedish pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis soared to victory, claiming his third straight world indoor title with a 6.15m clearance.
  • Jakob Ingebrigtsen once again proved himself to be a peerless championship competitor winning a 1500m/3000m double just as he had done on at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands – which was also staged on a Mondo athletics track – two weeks earlier.
  • The Bahamas’ 60m hurdles world record holder Devynne Charlton retaining her world indoor title in 7.72, a historic final where for the first time ever the top six women ran faster than 7.80.
  • South Africa’s Prudence Sekgodiso winning a thrilling women’s 800m in a national record and world-leading time of 1:58.40.

Mondo Sportflex Super X 720 athletics track has four unique and exclusive technologies that help athletes produce their best performance as it guarantees shock absorption, vertical deformation and energy return in all conditions.

In addition:

  • It has received the OK Recycled certification, which indicates that the recycled material content is based on a traceability system.
  • It has received the EDP certification (Environmental Product Declaration).

The next World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held between 20-22 March 2026 in Toruń, Poland.
