Birmingham CrossPlex Hosting NCAA Division III Championships
The
Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., which features a Mondo
hydraulic banked track, has seen its share of NCAA Division indoor track and field championships over the years, and 2023 is no different. This time, it’s the NCAA Division III championships, which take place March 10-11.
Other NCAA division championships the CrossPlex has hosted include:
- NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2016, 2109, and 2022
- NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2021
- NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2018 (also slated to host 2026 championships)
In addition, the CrossPlex has been the conference championships venue of choice for numerous divisions, including the American Athletic Conference (AAC), Conference USA (CUSA), the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), the Southland Conference (SLC), the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and more.
With just the push of a button, the Mondo hydraulic track at the CrossPlex can be raised to the optimum banking height for training and competition, and lowered to be flush with the ground, enabling the same space to be used for multiple purposes. Originally installed in 2010, it has a
Mondotrack surface.
