Once again, a Mondo athletics track will host the performances of the world’s leading athletes at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea 2026, scheduled to take place at Rome’s Olympic Stadium.
A Wanda Diamond League meeting and one of the most prestigious events on the global athletics calendar, the Golden Gala returns to the Italian capital on a surface designed to deliver maximum performance, safety and reliability, confirming Mondo’s role as a global benchmark in athletics solutions.
The track at the Olympic Stadium, inaugurated in 2023, represents the company’s technological excellence and has already hosted major international events, including previous editions of the Golden Gala and the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships, establishing itself as a stage for world-class performances.
Completing this system of excellence in the Italian capital, Mondo also supplied the track at the Stadio dei Marmi “Pietro Mennea” within the Foro Italico sports complex: a surface distinguished by its characteristic grey-turf colour, combining aesthetic identity and technical quality while enhancing one of the most iconic athletics venues in Italy.
For Mondo, Push Beyond Limits means going beyond the boundaries of both sporting performance and environmental responsibility.
The tracks installed in Rome are manufactured at the company’s Gallo d’Alba facility, certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, within an industrial model focused on sustainability.
According to the 2024 Sustainability Report, 68% of the Group’s energy consumption comes from renewable sources and 84% of waste is recovered or recycled.
Mondo’s commitment to eco-design has also led to a 19% reduction in Global Warming Potential in the track developed for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games compared with previous generations.
Mondo surfaces are prefabricated in solid vulcanised rubber, free from unbound microplastics, and certified according to leading international standards for indoor air quality and sustainability.
Mondo’s presence at the Golden Gala is part of an increasingly structured collaboration with FIDAL – the Italian Athletics Federation – aimed at supporting the development of athletics through high-quality infrastructure, innovation and technical support for sports facilities.
“Working with FIDAL represents a strategic step for us: it means working together to further raise the quality of athletics facilities in Italy and create the best possible conditions for athletes at every level. The Golden Gala is a concrete demonstration of how technology and performance can come together in an environment of excellence,” said Maurizio Stroppiana, Vice President of Sport at Mondo Group.
