Texas A&M Again Banks on Mondo for Indoor Track

Mondo Once More the Choice of NCAA DI University for Indoor Facility

Texas A&M University once again chose Mondo for its new indoor track. The NCAA Division I university recently installed a Mondo permanent banked track with a Mondo Super X 720 surface in its new indoor track and field home, the R.A. “Murray” Fasken ’38 Indoor Track & Field facility.

State of the Art Facility

The state-of-the-art, 130,000-square-foot stadium was designed and built to host conferences, national, and international competitions. It has a seating capacity of 4,000.

Fasken’s centerpiece is the new 200-meter, six-lane Mondo track with a 12-degree permanent bank, which is the maximum allowed gradient from the governing bodies, putting the Aggies’ facility among the top tracks in the nation. “The angle of the bank at its highest point is 12 degrees,” head coach Pat Henry is quoted as saying. “All of the major tracks in the United States are 12 degrees, which puts us among the best in the country.”

An eight-lane sprint straightaway, a pole vault runway, and two long jump/triple jump runways also have the same Mondo Super X 720 surface.

Host of 2025 SEC Championships

World Athletics certified, the Fasken Indoor Track & Field facility is scheduled to host the 2025 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

This is the second indoor Mondo track for the Aggies. Previously, Texas A&M had a Mondotrack in Gilliam Indoor Stadium, which was installed in 2008. Major competitions that were held on that Mondo track include four NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships (2010, 2011, 2017, and 2018); three SEC Championships (2014, 2018, and 2022); and two Big 12 Indoor meets (2009 and 2012).

Other NCAA Division I universities that recently chose Mondo for their indoor tracks include Mizzou, K-State, and Eastern Michigan University.
