When athletes enter the call room just before competing, adrenaline surges. That same sensation is currently being experienced at the Gallur Municipal Sports Center (Madrid), which this February is hosting two of the most important indoor athletics competitions on the calendar: the LXI Spanish national athletics Championships (February 21-23) and the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold 25 (February 28). Mondo's presence will be prominent in both events, as the renovated pavillion is equipped with a new Mondo athletics track, and both events will utilize the spectacular athletics equipment from the World Athletics-Mondo range.
The historic athletics track, certified with the highest Indoor World Athletics Class category, is equipped with Mondo athletics track, seating, and equipment. At the end of last year, it underwent a renovation, introducing the high-competition Sportflex Super X 720 K39 flooring in the inner ring area. The entire athletics track was also repainted, including the ring and the warm-up area located on the ground floor.
The customized equipment to be used in both the Spanish Championship and the World Athletics Tour event is Mondo's high-competition World Athletics equipment range. In addition to ensuring the highest quality and reliability for athletes, these equipment significantly enhance the spectacle and dynamism of the events, thanks to features such as integrated LED technology in lane markers and pole vault uprights.
The most important spanish indoor athletics competition will once again bring together the country's top athletes starting tomorrow. This edition will crown 26 new Spanish champions across all disciplines, with an equal number of events for men and women. The championships will take place over four sessions from February 21 to 23. Its significance extends beyond the national scope, as it will be crucial in preparation for the European Indoor Championship in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) (March 6-9), which will also be held on Mondo athletic track.
This year, Madrid remains a mandatory and top-level stop for the World Athletics Indoor Tour, celebrating its tenth anniversary. Madrid will once again host a competition classified as 'Gold,' the highest category, on February 28. This year's event, which will also feature Mondo's World Athletics range of equipment, includes international stars such as Tsige Duguma, the Ethiopian athlete and silver medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics; Turkey's Tuğba Danişmaz, European triple jump silver medalist; and shot putters Chase Jackson (two-time world champion) and Sarah Mitton (gold medalist at the 2024 Glasgow World Championships). The event will also showcase top national stars like Óscar Husillos and Iñaki Cañal, two of Spain's best 400m runners, and Maribel Pérez and Jaël-Sakura Bestué, who will face off in the 60m.
