Mourning in the athletics world

Italian sprinter Pasqualino Abeti, who was part of the world record-breaking 4x200m team in 1972 alongside Pietro Mennea, has died at the age of 75. He died on Saturday (24 February 2024). He ran the third leg on Italy's 4x200m world record in 1972 which was the first world record on a Mondo track.
