The Lombardy sports center, located between the provinces of Milan and Varese, has replaced the previous electronic scoreboard produced by Mondo with a 6-square-meter high-resolution LED screen.
Various electronic basketball equipment also debuts in the pavilion.
Mondo Smart Systems LED scoreboards continue to impress. One of the latest installations was made in northern Italy, at the PalaBorsani sports center. Located in Lombardy, on the border between the municipalities of Castellanza (province of Varese) and Legnano (province of Milan), the sports facility has chosen a 6-square-meter high-resolution LED video scoreboard thanks to its P5 pixel pitch (distance between pixels; the smaller the distance, the higher the resolution).
The new Mondo LED screen is positioned on one of the sides of the sports center, above the stands, and replaces an old Mondo's electronic scoreboard. The leap in quality is huge: the contents are now customizable for any sport and it is now possible to project any type of multimedia content - from videos and animated banners to live signals - or advertising, the scoreboard becomes a new source of income for the arena. The position of the giant screen is the same as the previous scoreboard, next to the jersey with the number 1 that recalls the figure of Tarcisio 'Tarci' Vaghi, a basketball coach much loved in the Lombardy region who died very young due to an illness.
In the PalaBorsani pavilion, inaugurated in 1985, top-level volleyball clubs such as SAB Legnano - which participated in the women's Serie A1 until its dissolution in 2018 -, Powervolley Milano and Carnaghi Villa Cortese have played. The Legnano Basket Knights (Italian Serie B basketball) currently play in the sports center.
The LED scoreboard arrived accompanied by new electronic equipment for basketball, such as a set of single-sided possession markers and game timekeepers. Mondocup baskets in the sports center are equipped with red light frames (to signal the end of the game period) and yellow light strips to signal the end of ball possession.
Basketball is closely linked to this sports facility: the name of the pavilion pays homage to Pierina Borsani, an athlete born in Castellanza in 1909 who excelled in a multitude of sports. She was a professional basketball player and was a top athlete in numerous disciplines. The athlete won eight Italian national championships in the shot put, javelin, discus and pentathlon. She also represented his country at the 1928 Olympic Games, held in Amsterdam, in the discus throw. In 2005, Italy paid homage to her in his hometown by renaming this sports center PalaBorsani.
Mondo Smart Systems solutions were already present in Italy with a large screen, almost 50 square meters, located at the 'Mario Saverio Cozzoli' Athletics Stadium in Molfetta. In Europe, among other locations, Mondo LED scoreboards are also found in the Olympic Park of Tirana in Albania, a major sports reference in the country, which has two large LED screens; at the Matosinhos Sports Center in Portugal; at the Festivalna pavilion in Bulgaria; at the Hasparren Ratchet, in France and at the Estadi Nacional and Estadi Comunal in Andorra.
Looking to Latin America, we recall that Peru equipped the Atlético de la Videna Stadium with a LED screen measuring more than 110 square meters for the 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games. The Aquatic Center pool, where the water polo matches were played, also debuted its own screen adapted to the climatic conditions of the pools. No less spectacular is the SND Sports Center in Asunción (Paraguay), whose exterior is equipped with four large 60-square-meter LED screens supplied by our company, which also supplied a central cube for the court. In Venezuela, the Poliedro de Caracas four-sided scoreboard was equipped with Mondovideo software and the Trotamundos de Carabobo basketball team has four-sided LED scoreboards and Mondovideo software in its pavilion.
Africa also benefits from Mondo Smart Systems LED solutions: in Egypt, the Dr Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall pavilion, located in the city of 6 de Octubre, features a large 60-square-meter LED cube, two indoor LED screens, and all the sports electronics by Mondo. The National Stadium in Lagos, Nigeria, debuted two Mondo LED screens during a game between the Nigerian and Mali basketball teams.
