The Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona is hosting, until December 22, the final major event of this year’s Premier Padel circuit. The venue is equipped with three padel courts featuring the Premier Supercourt® X3, the turf surface for padel court, now with a new color range. Premier Supercourt® X3 is the official playing surface of the circuit.
Barcelona is buzzing with excitement for the annual highlight of the padel world: the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals are being held at the Palau Sant Jordi until December 22. For the final stage of the Premier Padel calendar, the venue includes two competition courts and an additional activation court. All three courts are fitted with Premier Supercourt® X3, the turf surface for padel court, in a new version: the courts at the Palau Sant Jordi feature new shades of blue in the various filaments that make up the surface. The result is a padel playing field with a unique and distinctive effect, greater dynamism, and a fresh appearance—all without compromising the outstanding sporting performance of this surface specifically designed for padel.
The Premier Supercourt® X3 artificial turf offers excellent sporting and technical performance, endorsed by the world’s top padel professionals. This system is the first to combine three different textured monofilaments (XNOVA, XOMEGA, and XDELTA, each with its own morphology), ensuring:
• Better friction control
• Uniform ball bounce across the entire surface
• Outstanding aesthetics
All the filaments are textured, which means they “trap” the sand on the court between them, preventing it from being unevenly distributed on the surface or forming clumps due to play.
“This combination of filaments, the result of Mondo’s Research and Development efforts, provides a perfect balance between grip and slide during movement, faster gameplay, greater ball speed, and consistent bounce,” says Pilar Moreo, Padel Product Manager.
These features are complemented by maximum comfort and safety, as well as spectacular aesthetics, which will be appreciated by all spectators of the Premier Padel Finals. With Premier Supercourt® X3, players enjoy a complete sense of security and confidence in their movements, significantly reducing the risk of injury. The improved grip also enhances impact absorption, stability, traction, and balance during play.
The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals held in Barcelona feature Mondo artificial turf, the official surface provider for the circuit until the end of 2026, as seen in 15 other events held around the world this year. The 2024 Premier Padel circuit kicked off in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) with a P1 tournament, followed by a Major in Qatar. Subsequent stages highlighted Mondo’s turf, with tournaments held in Acapulco (Mexico), Puerto Cabello (Venezuela), Asunción (Paraguay), and Santiago (Chile).
When the competition reached Europe, events at the Foro Italico in Rome, Genoa (Italy), Nokia (Finland), and Roland Garros Stadium in Paris were also played on Mondo courts. In the final quarter of the year, Mondo turf was featured in the P1 tournaments held in Kuwait and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
Spain once again proved to be a hub for the world’s best padel: the first event of the current circuit held in the country was the Premier Padel Andalucía Sevilla P2, played on Premier Supercourt® X3 at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville. This surface was also a highlight at the Málaga Premier Padel P1 (Palacio de los Deportes Martín Carpena) and the Comunidad de Madrid Premier Padel P1 (Wizink Center). Now, the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona joins this list with the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals, marking a spectacular conclusion to the world’s most important professional padel circuit.
