"I'm back to stay and to improve."
These words, spoken in 2018 by legendary athlete Bruno Hortelano on the Tíncer track, perfectly sum up the spirit of the new Mondo project.
The Tenerife Island Athletics Centre (CIAT), located in Tíncer (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), had already installed a Mondo surface in 2007, later replaced in 2016 with another surface solution.
Today, the facility once again boasts a Mondo athletics track, with over 7,700 m² of Sportflex Super X 720, a prefabricated system that ensures excellent technical and biomechanical performance.
The athletics track, among the most important in the archipelago, has already passed UN standard tests and is awaiting official World Athletics Class 2 certification.
Managed by IDECO (Gestión Insular para el Deporte, la Cultura y el Ocio), the CIAT is a benchmark for athletics in the Canary Islands and Spain.
Already equipped with Mondo products with the video finish system, 3,500 Mondoseat seats, and a covered athletics module, the facility has been further improved with:
The CIAT athletics track includes eight lanes plus a spare lane and a double runway for the long and triple jump.
The new Sportflex Super X 720 K39 athletics track is ideal for both competition and training facilities, offering athletes the perfect combination of impact absorption, vertical deformation, and energy return.
The renovation included the ring, the jumping areas, and the two access points to the track from the walkways and locker rooms, which are now also equipped with the same athletic surface.
The return of the Mondo athletics track in Tíncer joins many other facilities in the Canary Islands that already benefit from the company's surfaces: the Francisco Peraza stadium in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the Los Laureles sports center in Tegueste, the Venancio Monzón stadium in San Isidro-Gáldar (Gran Canaria), the Municipal de Vecindario stadium in Santa Lucía de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), the Llano Tesa sports center in Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma), and the Tejina facility (La Laguna). The La Gomera athletics track will soon also renovate its Mondo surface, installed in 2001.
