Next summer World Athletics Championships will be staged in Tokyo’s Japan National Stadium – the centrepiece of the Olympic Games held in the Japanese capital in 2021 – between 13-21 September, this time in front of a full crowd of spectators.
Almost six months before Tokyo becomes the focus of attention, the Jiangsu Sports Bureau Training Center in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing will host to the World Indoor Athletics Championships between 21-23 March.

In recent years, Mondo athletics tracks have earned a solid reputation as the best performing tracks in Asia, thanks to the outstanding results achieved in national meets held on Mondo tracks after the pandemic ended.
One mark that caught the attention of many athletics aficionados earlier this year at the National Grand Prix meeting in March was sprinter-cum-long jumper Yuhao Shi speeding to a 60m clocking of 6.52 to move up eighth on the Asian all-time list for the event, as well as flying out to 8.04m in his specialist event.
Nanjing will be the 16th time in 21 editions that the World Athletics Indoor Championships will be staged in a stadium with a Mondo athletics track.
The 2025 Diamond League will also have very much of an Asian aspect to it at the outset. Like this year, the 2025 series will get underway in Xiamen’s Egret Stadium on 20 April.
The majestic Egret Stadium, opened little more than a year ago in September 2023, features a Sportflex Super X 720™ athletics track.
Memorably, the Swedish pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis cleared the first of his three world records this summer in Xiamen – all of which came on Mondo athletics tracks –when he went over 6.24m.
